There are four different types of countertops readily available in Southwest Florida.

Laminate:  Formica is a brand name and has become a generic name for all laminates regardless who manufactured them.  It is the least expensive top available and widely used in modular housing and for builders trying to build to a price.  It has sharp edges and corners, and the particle board substrate is prone to water absorption and swelling.  Once scratched, it can only be replaced, not repaired.  Laminate tops will actually subtract from the value of your house on the real estate market.  They are harder than ever to get because so few builders are still using them; therefore, their price is rising and quality is falling.  We do not build, supply or recommend laminate tops.

Bamboo is also an ideal option for environmentally conscious homeowners. Though it's technically a grass, bamboo is actually harder than many types of wood. And unlike wood, bamboo is a rapidly renewable resource  and matures in around six years vs. 60 years for traditional wood. 

Trendy and earth-friendly, eco-chic bamboo is also long-lasting, very durable and stands up well to water and traffic.  It comes in a variety of sizes, colors, stains and textures.

There's no denying that in real estate, kitchens can make or break the sale of a home.  Gone are the days of the typical 1950's kitchen hidden behind a restaurant-style swinging door.  Today's kitchens are the now main focal point of the home.  Friends and family come to gather for dinner, drinks, home-work or just to hang out.
